So now I just need a simple navigation to get me started. I could spend 6 months going through all the possible settings available. Then I had to try and manually configure all the in's and out's - and for a newb.

The terms 'Q25' or 'Alesis' appear nowhere in Ableton which is odd considering Ableton and the Q25 are bundled together.Īccording to the video Alesis Q25 should be automatically in there but it isn't.

The VST does not show up in the browser if by 'browser' you mean the browser in the dropdown under 'view'? Thanks - am trialling Ableton on an XP Pro - the Q25 needs no driver - I use it extensively in a different software on a different computer. If on a PC, you may need to install a driver for the q25 to see it in Live's preferences. You need to drag the VST from the browser to the Midi track in order to use it. Once it's set correctly in the prefernces, you can choose the Q25 from the input on whatever midi track you have the VST on. I will restate that Ableton does not recognise the Alesis Q25 by name - so there is no auto-setting sadly - but accepts midi signals coming from it which show up in the volume indicators and the flashing squares at the top right of the midi software. I have directed Ableton to this folder, it has found it, tells me it has analyzed it, then nothing.Ĭan you or anyone else give me simple navigation to enable my VST effect in Ableton so that I can control it with my keyboard please? Yes I know midi is soundless so I have imported an organ synth VST and unzipped it into a VST file on my desktop. I have now been trying unsuccessfully to monitor anything coming out of the midi keyboard for 6 hours. I watched the video - mainly the second video - I have an Alesis Q25 keyboard which ships with Ableton Lite Live 8 - when I plug it into the usb of my computer and open Ableton, the software does not recognise it, it doesn't appear in the dropdown menu of listed devices. VST's will show up in Live's browser after you set that in the preferences. JuanSOLO wrote:You really need to watch some getting started video posted on the Ableton site.
